CAPN was founded in November of 1998 by the professional staff of the Georgia Nurses Foundation Women and Children’s Clinic. After GNF closed its doors on October 30, 1998, there was a major concern that this very needy, already underserved population would be severely endangered having even less access to healthcare.

The professional staff of the clinic, having developed the expertise and community resources necessary to provide comprehensive health care to this population, continued clinical services uninterrupted until CAPN’s non-profit status was realized. The Atlanta Women’s Foundation (AWF) in its commitment to women and children provided fiscal responsibility for CAPN until we were granted a separate 501(c)(3) in March of 1999.
